CHARITY: Moustaches Find Love in the AsianD8 office…

“It’s Movember, and we’re all going to grow moustaches and help raise money for prostate cancer..” said CFO Sujan Shah.

“Ummmm…what?! Sounds like fun, let’s do it!” came the response from the AsianD8 team.

At AsianD8 we’ve always tried to get involved with charitable activities, whether it’s turning up to work in our pyjamas for Comic Relief, to member sof the team running marathons and jumping out of planes.

The latest in the long line has probably caused the most laughs yet, the Movember Moustache’s have been growing steadily bushier over the past month! You can Donate Here to help the cause!

Originally starting out in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement. Since starting over 1.1 million “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sistas” have participated, with campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. Last year over 112,000 UK participants helped in raising £11.7 million.

The official website clearly shows the organisations desire to increase awareness about men’s heath globally, as we as raise valuable funds for charities such as The Prostate Cancer Charity, and The Institute of Cancer Research.

Movember say “Big steps have been taken towards changing attitudes and habits relating to men’s health around the world but there is still much to be done to catch up with the women’s health movement. Via the moustache, Movember aims to fulfill its vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health, by continuing to spark conversation and spread awareness of men’s health each year.”

It’s been a great experience for the team, comparing moustaches, discussing styles and raising over £300 and counting so far!

NEWS: How to get your free ticket with EventPass

This blog is for all of those members that have the Event Pass within their membership [that includes all premium members]. We have made some important updates to the way you get your free ticket; see below for full details.

1. Which events can I attend?

If you have purchased the Event Pass extra you can attend pretty much all singles events for Free. This includes speed dating, padlock parties and mingling events; however, on some occasions we may run a special type of event (such as bowling or cooking for singles) which will need to be purchased. You will get 20% off which will be deducted during check out for these special type of events.

2. I’ve noticed some changes. How can I get my free ticket(s)?

We’ve made some changes to the way the event pass works; in the past members could invite themselves to events for free by clicking on the banner above the tickets. Members were then prompted to fill out a form and they were sent an email confirming attendance. However, we’ve made changes! If you have the Event Pass you will have the option of selecting the event pass ticket for the event just like you would for a normal ticket (see image below)…

It’s now even easier to get your free ticket to an event. All you need to do is select the event pass and click add to basket. You will need to follow the normal steps through to check out and confirm your details. On completion of this process you will recieve your e-ticket confirmation. It’s as easy as that!

4. Event Pass Terms and Conditions

We noticed that every now and then one or two of you that have received your free ticket sometimes don’t turn up to events. This can be frustrating as we aim to have an equal number of male and female attendees! If you get a free ticket using your event pass and don’t show we will keep a record of this; if you do this on three occasions you will lose your even pass privileges. A message Booster enables basic members to respond to your messages. Basic members may consist of brand new members who are getting to know how the website works, or maybe their membership has just expired. So whilst these guys are contemplating on when to upgrade their membership you can send them a message which they can reply to via your message booster. This will mean that you’re likely to receive more messages than ever before!

iDcheck

Getting an iDcheck will give members a little more confidence to know that you are who you say you are. This is a good way of distinguishing your profile from the rest and showing other members that you are serious about meeting someone. Getting ID checked couldn’t be easier. All you will need to do is give us some basic information about you which we will use to confirm your identity. Once approved you will receive an ID badge on your profile. This will give others a little extra confidence in getting to know you.

Profile Highlight

If you want to ensure that you receive more waves and messages then this is the extra for you. Having your profile highlighted amongst our top picks ensures that you will appear at the very top of the page for each and every search.
